Stage 3 Spelling Support is designed for learners wishing to progress from Key Stage 2.
It contains 400 of the most misspelled words in the English Language.
The program begins with an initial assessment to place the learner at the appropriate level and bypass areas of learning that they are already proficient.
The modular approach automatically escalates the learner through a variety of tasks and book marks where the learner may stop and return to at a later time.
If the learner has been absent for a while, the program will automatically de-escalate the learner as it recognises that the learner is not achieving at a previous attained level.
The words are broken down into a phonics approach and rebuilds words as necessary for the learner to practice and recognise for future use.
This program is design and presented in the same way as Global English and is an excellent compliment or can be used independently to assess a students current level and monitor the learners progress over a period of time.
Key Stage 3 Spelling Support is designed specifically to raise standards in Spelling. Students with the two main spelling faults occurring in weak spellers ? weak visual recall and weak auditory analysis - are helped to gain spelling confidence and spelling autonomy. The program develops awareness of word groups, common prefixes and suffixes.
The program is divided into four Stages that increase in word complexity. Four main exercises are used to learn and practise the spelling of the words.
Quick Spell Syllables, parts of words and letters are used to spell the words.
Spelling Rack Words are spelt by selecting the letters that make up the word.
Type the Word The keyboard is used to type the word.
Complete the Sentence The keyboard is used to type the words missing from example sentences containing the key words.
The presentation of these exercises is based on the recognised approach to learning spelling, with the LOOK ? COVER ? WRITE ? CHECK method incorporated into the exercises. When misspellings occur, additional support and reinforcement are given.
