The school conducted a 3 year evaluation relative to the use of Global English
as part of an Open Integrated Learning System. The report stated
"...our results lead us to believe that the use of the Global English ILS
software effectively lifts the literacy rates of children who are over a year behind
on intake, into Yr 7, when used in conjunction with one to one tuition and in-class
support..."
Summary of Results

The children involved in the evaluation were Year 7 students, representing a mix of
abilities with a span of Reading Ages between 7 years 6 months and 12 years approx.
The groups contained a number of children with learning difficulties including Statements
of Special Educational Need.

In the 1994/95 intake
- 88% of students entering the College with Reading Ages over one year retarded, achieved
our target by the end of Year 7.
- 61% of these students made gains of over 2 years in 9 months tuition.
- Average gain over 9 months @ 3 x 50 mins week for 18 weeks = 10.5m.
- The average gain in Spelling Age over 7 weeks using 3 x 50 mins week = 10.5m.
In the 1994/95 intake
- Average gains over 6 months = @ 3 x 50 mins week for 12 weeks = 1y 6m.
The final summary declared that
